“Two Years: Diaries of a Divided Nation” Screening & Discussion w/ Producers

February 4, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

So much of significance has happened over the past four years. It is difficult to catch our breath and begin to make sense of it. On Thursday, February 4th, we’ll gather to look back. To reflect. To ask: “how did we get to where we are today? And what do we, a justice-seeking spiritual community, need to remember about this time, as we gather courage to face the challenges ahead?”

.

In January 2017, as President Donald Trump was inaugurated and millions of people demonstrated in Women’s Marches across the country, a team of audio journalists began documenting a group of Americans from very different walks of life as they witnessed the impact of politics on their lives. The resulting archive is a people’s history of the forty-fifth presidency, recorded in real time. We will listen together to the award-winning first audio documentary from that project, “Two Years: Diaries of a Divided Nation.” We’ll hear the fears, hopes, and concerns of six Americans as they experience the first two years of the Trump presidency. Following the screening, we’ll be joined by the project’s founder, radio journalist Jesse Dukes. Lenore Bajare-Dukes, UUCL’s Director of Lifespan Faith Development and a co-producer of the project, will host.

.

Gather at 6:30PM to listen together online, sharing impressions in the chat (videos on or off, snacks welcome). Or, listen to the documentary on your own time, then join for the discussion at 7:30PM.
