Mural Exhibit and Meet the Artist
This is a reception/art exhibit for congregants to attend, outside on the front church sidewalk to look at two renderings that our artist has offered for the mural on the front wall of the church. Light refreshments available.
The Church Mural Task Force invites you to attend an art exhibit to be held in front of the church on October 24th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. We will be showing two renderings of our Chestnut Street UUCL Church Mural for your viewing pleasure! Please come, look, comment, and meet our artist, Ms. Gerri McCritty.
Gerri is co-owner of PAVAA Gallery, a home for Afrocentric performance and visuals arts. Gerri is very involved in the Lancaster community, providing opportunities for people of every race and background to interact with artists and expand their minds about the culture of the African Diaspora.
Gerri is excited about creating artwork for our mural with a message to reach out and invite curiosity from our local community. This purpose of this mural is to act as both invitation and bridge- an invitation to UUCL’s mission and a bridge to the diversity of greater Lancaster. The task force has been quite uplifted in our work with Gerri to achieve these two aims.
Our hope is to begin the actual painting work on the Mural next spring.
We think that the current renderings invite the community to come closer, to look, to wonder, and to urge them to look further into what UUCL is all about.
