with Lou Ann Miller & Don Horning
On the southwestern part of Lancaster County, and rolling into Chester County is a ridge called the Welsh Mountain. For years the mountain had a reputation of crime, outlaws, and seedy characters. Local residents in the ’60’s were frightened to drive through the mountain. The residents were poor and of mixed races. Was this prejudice ? What’s the truth about the mountain folk?Join Don Horning, and Lou Ann Miller as one voice of the mountain speaks, Nancy Sandoe, “Saint of the Mountain.” Don, a lifelong resident and retired businessman of the New Holland area, is an enthusiastic and active member of the New Holland Historical Society, and the Holland Museum. Lou Ann’s family were among the original settlers in this area. She is a retired teacher and school administrator, active in the Historical Society, and has been a member of UUCL since 1973. She writes articles for the Historical Society newsletter, visits schools as a schoolmarm and works with Don to create new displays.
