Music Committee
Welcome to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster (UUCL)
Purpose of Committee
The Music Committee at UUCL supports the church music program and works with staff to provide a musical experience that enhances the spiritual, and musical life of the church. Along with the Music Director, we create an overall music program intended to support and deepen our UU values.
How can church members get involved?
Besides congregational hymn singing and regular performances by the choir, our music program also includes special music both at Sunday services and as separate events. Members of the congregation are encouraged to suggest music for all these different kinds of programs. We welcome musically inclined congregants to perform at special music programs, either as soloists or as ensembles. The choir will also be happy to hear from you if you are interested in joining.
Music Program
The music program at UUCL contains an exciting array of styles. Our sanctuary houses a newly refurbished Mohler Pipe Organ, built in 1932 and installed in 2012, as well as a Steinway Grand Piano. We have a 25-voice adult choir which performs several times a month. Highlights of our choral program include classical cantatas with orchestra, world music with drums, and unique UU anthems composed by local and other well-known UU artists.
All of our ensembles are open to members and friends of UUCL.
Sound Team
If you are interested in an easy job on an occasional Sunday morning, this for you! No experience is necessary to run the sound board. Plus, you get to work with some professionally experienced folks, including Bob Ulrich from Clair Brothers. Email us for more information.
