Church Events Week of April 6

Dear UUCL Community,

With this Tuesday edition of this “Special” All Church Email we offer primarily the schedule of staff-sponsored events for the coming week. We encourage everyone to stay connected: attend some of the events offered by staff listed here; attend online Soul Matters groups and meetings of the committee and teams in this congregation, and organize new events, which we are happy to advertise in this email. Additional announcements of other UUCL and related activities will appear in the Friday edition of this ACE.

We wish our Jewish UU members and friends who are celebrating a Happy Passover, starting tomorrow. In hard times, it is good to remember ritual that sustains. Here are resources, shared by our friend in the Lancaster Interfaith Coalition Rabbi Jack Paskoff, for: Jewish readings for Passover in a time of COVID-19, digital content to enliven a virtual Seder, and a downloadable Haggadah for children; as well as “Dayenu for Passover in the Time of COVID,” shared by UUs for Jewish Awareness.
Our schedule of Zoom connections between Wednesday April 8 and Sunday April 12 includes:

Come together Wednesday evening in community conversation to share personal joys and concerns, and to inform staff of any UUCL pastoral concerns. To ground conversation this week we will consider “Kindness,” as a topic and as a poem by Naomi Shihab Nye (The poem is not attached here: you may wish to find a copy in advance of Wednesday evening.) There is no time limit on this call.
Friday Morning Multi-Generational Dance Break! Friday April 10, 10 a.m. for 20 minutes, for all ages, all bodies, with children especially welcome. Hop onto Zoom and move to the music! Lenore will host with a playlist for joyful movement. Join:

Online Worship: Sunday Morning, April 12: 10:00-10:45 a.m.: led by Rev. Barbara, Lenore Bajare-Dukes, and Eli Sauls. This Sunday: “Easter Sunday,” an intergenerational service which will include the traditional UU Flower Ceremony. Watch the Friday edition of this All Church Email for more details about how we will share springtime blossoms with each other. As this is an intergenerational service, we will not gather for children’s worship at 11, but we will have a special children’s activity—stay tuned.

Every Day:• Reach out to at least one other person in this congregation.• Go or look outside and notice flowers in nature. If you don’t have access to living flowers, draw or print pictures for Sunday’s Flower Ceremony.

May we continue to look for moments of gratitude, May we remember to take deep breaths, to laugh, and to send regular virtual hugs to all whom we love.In faithRev Barbara, Lenore, Eli

Support for using Zoom to connect with worship and one another:
Please email Lenore Bajare-Dukes ( and Amanda Maher ( to set up a time with a UUCL volunteer or staff member for a tutorial or practice with using Zoom to connect online or by phone. If you know someone in our community who might benefit from this, please let them know. We are not hosting specific “office hours” this week but are glad to support you by appointment!
