Mid Winter is here, the beginning of the year pushing ahead. Nature hides,
slumbers and there is the mystery of the Earth in darkness. Unseen, quiet,
invisible energy at work. We wonder, in the cold and dim, hope hovers near.
More moments of light give promise and we hold back, mark time, hang on to the
flow. Donna Ashworth’s “Wintering” tells us why we rest. Release will arrive

WINTERING

YOU MAY THINK YOURSELF LAZY OR FLAWED AND YET
YOUR BODY IS MADE OF ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME
ELEMENTS AS THE STARS AND YOUR BONE COMPOSITION
MATCHES THE CORAL IN THE SEAS AND YOU ARE RULED
BY THE MOON AND THE SUN WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR
NOT. SO, NO YOU ARE NOT LAZY. NATURE IS SIMPLY
PULLING YOU TO SLOW, LIKE THE LIFE, FLORA & FAUNA,
AROUND YOU. IT IS NOT YOUR MOMENT TO RISE. IT IS
WINTER, YOU ARE WINTERING. YOU ARE RIGHT ON TIME.
