|Yesterday, so many of us turned out to make sure that people’s voices were heard and to affirm and practice beloved community with those in our neighborhood. We were joined by Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray, President of the UUA, and Rev. Cathy Rion Starr, UU the Vote organizer, to be in solidarity with voters here in Central Pennsylvania.
See our Facebook page for videos and photos of UUCL bringing #JoyToThePolls—just one of many ways our community have shown up for democracy in recent weeks! Please also see the message below from Nicole Pressley, National Organizer of UU The Vote, for a message about making every day and every vote count.
But first: it can be tough to wait for the results of an election that will determine so much about our country’s future. Luckily, there are things we can do right now, as a community.
On Thursday evening, Rev. Israel will be joining CASA and other community organizers to speak at a count the vote rally in Harrisburg at 5:00PM.
On Wednesday evening, staff, members and friends of UUCL gathered alongside many of our partners in the POWER Interfaith Coalition at a rally in downtown Lancaster to make sure that we Count Every Vote. This is not partisan politics: this is making sure that all people have a voice. If you have not yet already, sign up for UU the Vote emails [https://www.uuthevote.org/] to know about other mobilizations.
Right now, people of faith across the country are gathering online and sharing spiritual practices to sustain us. We want to share with you this incredible resource of compilation of online conversations, speakers, music, singing, meditation, prayer and more, curated by Micky ScottBey Jones, The Justice Doula, of FaithMatters Network.

Lastly, we invite you to light your chalices every night at 7PM, as UUCL members and other UUs around the country have been doing for months. Reach out and call another member of the congregation. And stay connected with our Facebook page as we bring you more spiritual resources, updates, and connections this week and beyond.
