During the service this Sunday, we will be reflecting upon on what it means to live a life of purpose. This presents the perfect opportunity for our congregation to take a deep look at the purpose of our religious community. A vibrant church is one that has a clear sense of purpose, and during this time of new beginnings for UUCL, we will begin the process of defining our purpose—our mission together. To that end, we would like to invite all of you to participate in an hour-long workshop of brainstorming, visioning, and sharing in which we will identify the deep purposes and mission of our congregation. The workshop will take place following a 10 minute break after the conclusion of the service. Follow-up to the October 11th Town Hall Meeting On the subject of our stained-glass windows, we assure everyone that the conversation was meant to be a small part of a larger conversation for how we wish to envision the future of our community. Rest assured no decision will be made without a conversation involving the entire congregation. Beyond that, we must also be aware that the windows will in the near future need some very expensive preservation work. So, in due time, important discussion and decisions will be needed regarding the future of the windows. We are looking forward to welcoming you all to participate in the important work of exploring our purpose at UUCL. With a new called minister, it is time for us to discover anew our purpose as a church community and to begin to live out that defined purpose.
